Creating Goldblood — Behind The Feeder Series #3

1. Origins of Goldblood
Goldblood sprang from my travels through Brazil and a deep immersion in The Feeder Series.
In February earlier this year, I was sitting in a Mitsubishi jeep, traveling twice as fast as the other tourist cars through the wild roads of Jalapão. It was about 40 degrees, and the sun was baking the open, barren landscape. I noticed the large mountains in the distance and asked our excellent driver about the area’s origin and history. My imagination fired up, and the general outline of Goldblood was created on the spot.
I could see John Martin’s plane crash-land at the base of one of those mountains, and I began to imagine who might live inside. John Martin’s wealth was another matter, and I found it fitting because I had solidified his background as a heroin smuggler in The Feeder #1, which allowed me to explore this part of his life and the origin of the Martins.

2. Inspiration and Setting
The sand that John Martin crashes into when falling from the cliffside exists — and I have been in it. It pulls your feet under in a strange way.
The idea of Pastor Babas came while we were in a jungle village, and everyone went to a small church. The reverend’s booming voice reminded me of Catholicism’s strong presence in Brazil.
3. The Characters and Their Secrets
I also enjoyed including historical people in Goldblood. Without giving away too much, I can tell you that even Roger Moore makes an appearance.
While organizing all the ideas before writing, I felt more confident about my writing style and The Feeder universe in general. The novel centers on how history, power, and conspiracy shape the destinies of its characters — particularly John Martin, whose life is marked by dangerous choices and hidden truths.
4. Themes and Influences
The idea for the fourth book is already forming in my head. It will be set during the Second World War and follow John Martin’s parents as they uncover the truth about Hitler.
As some of my readers might have recognized by now, I’m a history buff and follow conspiracy theories closely. Why? Because it’s fun — and sometimes they turn out to be true.
Goldblood is a homage to my favorite writers: Harold Robbins, Ian Fleming, Agatha Christie, and Wilbur Smith. I remember spending endless hours immersed in their vast literary worlds.
I hope that my books transport readers into the wild world of John Martin and spark reflection on the boundaries between fact and fiction.
5. Final Thoughts
Goldblood is essentially a crossover of my favorite influences — the luxury of Ian Fleming and the psychological depth of Bret Easton Ellis. Expect posh brands, drinks, and conspiracies woven into the cinematic chaos of the 1970s.
Thank you for joining me on this wild adventure. With Goldblood, I invite you to laugh, be shocked, and enjoy the ride. The Feeder Books are meant to surprise, entertain, and offer a uniquely exhilarating escape — even for the most discerning reader.
