What is Luxe Noir?
I have been asked this question many times since launching The Feeder Series, and I think it deserves a proper answer.
Luxe Noir is a fiction genre I created. It did not exist before my books. There was no label for what I was writing — no category on Amazon, no shelf in the bookstore, no Wikipedia entry. So I named it myself.
Luxe Noir is the fusion of luxury, power, danger, and noir storytelling. It lives at the intersection of thriller, espionage, historical fiction, and crime — but filtered through a world of extreme wealth, dynasty, sensuality, and moral ambiguity. The characters are not ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances. They are powerful, ruthless, cultured, and unapologetically dangerous. They wear bespoke suits and carry secrets that reshape nations.
If traditional noir is shadow and rain and a detective with a cigarette, Luxe Noir is champagne in a penthouse with blood on the marble.
That is the simplest way I can put it.

Why I Created Luxe Noir
When I began writing The Feeder, I knew immediately that what I was building did not fit neatly into any existing genre. It was not a conventional thriller. It was not crime fiction in the traditional sense. It was not espionage alone, nor was it literary fiction alone. It contained elements of all of these — but the world I was constructing had its own texture, its own rules, its own atmosphere.
The characters I write are filthy rich. They move through elite circles in New York, Berlin, the Amazon, Nassau, Paris. They are surrounded by posh brands, fine art, rare wine, and beautiful things. But beneath that surface, there is espionage, betrayal, violence, addiction, and a relentless hunger for control.
I needed a name for that.
Noir captured the darkness — the shadows, the moral complexity, the sense that no one is truly innocent. But noir alone did not capture the luxury, the opulence, the sheer scale of the world I was writing. So I combined them. Luxe Noir. Luxury and darkness. Elegance and danger. That is the genre, and it is mine.
What Defines the Luxe Noir Genre
Luxe Noir is not simply "rich people doing bad things." It is a deliberate literary framework with specific characteristics that separate it from adjacent genres.
Extreme wealth as setting, not spectacle. In Luxe Noir, luxury is not decorative. It is the environment in which power operates. The mansions, the private jets, the rare watches — they are not there to impress the reader. They are there because that is the world these characters inhabit, and that world shapes every decision they make.
Moral ambiguity as a rule. There are no clean heroes in Luxe Noir. The protagonists are capable of extraordinary violence, manipulation, and cruelty — and also of loyalty, love, and sacrifice. The reader is never allowed to sit comfortably on one side.
Generational power. Luxe Noir deals in dynasties, bloodlines, and inherited empires. The consequences of one generation's choices cascade through the next. Family is both fortress and prison.
Noir atmosphere with cinematic scale. The storytelling borrows from classic noir — the shadows, the tension, the sense of inevitability — but expands it to a global, cinematic scope. These are not small stories. They span continents, decades, and wars.
Sensuality without apology. Luxe Noir does not sanitize its characters. Sex, desire, and physical power are present because they are inseparable from the lives these characters lead. I do not write to shock. I write to be honest about the world I have built.
Empowered women. The women in Luxe Noir are not accessories. They stake out their own destinies and match the men in intelligence, ruthlessness, and ambition. Power, in this universe, is not reserved for one gender.
How Luxe Noir Differs from Noir and Thriller
People often ask how Luxe Noir compares to traditional noir or standard thriller fiction. The simplest distinction is scope and texture.
Traditional noir is intimate. A detective, a crime, a city at night. The mood is claustrophobic. The world is small and the stakes are personal.
Thriller fiction is plot-driven. There is a ticking clock, a mission, a hero racing against time. The stakes are high but the world is often functional — a backdrop for action.
Luxe Noir combines the atmospheric depth of noir with the scale and pace of a thriller, then wraps it in a world of extreme privilege and generational power. The stakes are not just personal — they are dynastic. The mood is not just dark — it is seductive. The action is not just fast — it is layered with history, conspiracy, and moral weight.
In a thriller, the hero wants to survive. In noir, the protagonist wants the truth. In Luxe Noir, the characters want to control the world — and they have the money, the bloodline, and the ruthlessness to try.
The DNA of a Luxe Noir Novel
Every Luxe Noir novel in The Feeder Series shares a specific set of elements:
Real history woven into fiction. From the jungles of the Amazon to the corridors of Nazi Germany, from Area 51 to the jazz clubs of mid-century America — Luxe Noir is grounded in real places, real events, and real historical figures. I research extensively to make the fiction feel plausible and the history feel alive.
Conspiracy and espionage. Intelligence agencies, covert operations, hidden networks. The characters operate in the spaces between governments and criminal empires — where information is currency and loyalty is conditional.
Violence with consequence. There is violence in Luxe Noir because there is violence in power. But it is never gratuitous. Every act of violence has weight, has cost, and shapes what comes after.
A global canvas. These stories do not stay in one city. They move across continents — Brazil, Germany, Greece, the Bahamas, the United States — because the power structures they explore are global.
Language and craftsmanship. Luxe Noir is written with care. The prose is deliberate. The pacing is controlled. I write cinematically — every scene is constructed like a frame, every chapter builds toward revelation.

The Feeder Series — Where Luxe Noir Lives
The Feeder Series is the foundation of the Luxe Noir genre. Four books, one dynasty, and a universe that expands with every installment.
The Feeder
Where the dynasty begins. When a mission in Amsterdam collapses, John Martin is pulled into a hidden world of assassins, secret cabals, and forbidden knowledge buried deep in the Amazon. The dynasty begins the moment he chooses hunger over mercy.
Alien AI
Power was never enough. When cryptic signals lead the Martins through a hidden portal in Greece and into Area 51, they uncover an intelligence older than civilization itself. What begins as an investigation becomes a war for reality — and for the future of the bloodline.
Goldblood
Long before the empire rose, the jungle held its secrets. Goldblood is the origin story — a journey into the heart of Brazil where ancient power, bloodline destiny, and the raw foundations of the Martin dynasty are revealed for the first time.
Luxe Rage
The newest chapter — and the one that completes the circle. Set against the backdrop of World War II, Luxe Rage reveals the parents behind the dynasty: Bruce and Camilla Martin, operating as covert intelligence operatives inside Nazi Germany. A historical spy thriller that exposes the bloodlines behind everything.
All four books are available worldwide on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. The Feeder is also available as an audiobook, narrated by me.
Frequently Asked Questions About Luxe Noir
What genre is Luxe Noir?
Luxe Noir is a fiction genre created by JFK Løvlien that blends luxury, power, espionage, dynasty, and noir storytelling. It sits at the intersection of thriller, historical fiction, crime, and literary fiction — but with a distinct focus on extreme wealth, generational power, moral ambiguity, and cinematic atmosphere.

No. Traditional noir is intimate, urban, and focused on crime and moral decay in small settings. Luxe Noir takes the atmospheric darkness of noir and expands it to a global, cinematic scale — adding extreme wealth, dynasty, espionage, and generational power. The mood is seductive as much as it is dark.
Is Luxe Noir the same as a thriller?
Not exactly. Thrillers are primarily plot-driven with a focus on pace and suspense. Luxe Noir includes those elements but layers them with historical depth, character complexity, sensuality, and a world built around luxury and inherited power. It moves slower when it needs to and hits harder when it strikes.
